The United Kingdom's climate is much warmer than expected (considering its location), as all of the British Isles are warmed some by the Gulf Stream and North Atlantic Drift.

There certainly are exceptions, but in general terms winters are damp, mild and windy, with cloudy days. Winters do get cold and snowy, especially in the Northern Highlands of Scotland and the hills and mountains of northern England.

Summers are usually pleasant and warm with sunny to partly-cloudy days. Temperatures are the warmest across the south (from Bristol to London) and along the entire length of the English Channel.

Precipitation is possible at most anytime, but the United Kingdom's reputation as a constantly rainy and wet destination is very much exaggerated.
